Take the "Back-to-School" Safety City Pledge
With children going back to school, it is a great time to reflect on our daily safety practices. It seems everyone today is in a hurry and we are all tempted by the constant allure of our smartphones and gadgets. It is easy to be distracted while driving, being a pedestrian, or riding a bike around town. The Back to School Safety City Pledge was initially created with children in mind, but after talking to many adults, it became obvious that WE could ALL use a reminder from time to time.
Phone companies like AT&T have created many public service announcements showing the dangers of things like texting and driving but there are many other ways that we can be a little more thoughtful and a little more careful in our day to day lives.
Being distracted is the number one cause for traffic accidents. Let's pledge to be more present in our daily lives. Please take the Back to School Safety City Pledge. Share it online. Discuss it with your children. Make a promise to never use your phones while in the car- and then keep each other honest about it. That fraction of a second where we exercise caution and thoughtfulness, might make all the difference in the world.
