Safety City in Lexington Teaches Young Kids Street Smarts

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - About 8,000 kids die of accidental deaths every year in the U.S. Safety City is a small city inside Lexington meant to help lower the number of accidental deaths in the area.

New Safety City Silent Auction-Isabelle, American Girl Doll

The American Girl Doll Company has graciously donated Isabelle to Safety City for our second silent auction fundraiser.

2nd Annual Summer Safety Fair- June 25, 10 am - 2 pm

Bring the kids to our family-friendly, no-cost Summer Safety Fair on Saturday, June 25. Community safety organizations will be on hand with activities and goodies for the kids and Safety City will have our much loved cars available for 6-8 year old drivers. Door prizes and free food will top things off, making this event not only informative, but a whole lot of fun!

Trick-or-Treat Night Scheduled for Fri. Oct. 30; rain or shine

Safety City will be holding it's first Trick-or-Treat Night on Friday, October 30 from 6-8 pm at our facility in Lexington (1160 Red Mile Place).

The event is free and open to the public. Children from 1 to 12 years of age are welcome. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Please bring a flashlight. (If it rains, the event will be held indoors.)

Take the "Back-to-School" Safety City Pledge

With children going back to school, it is a great time to reflect on our daily safety practices. It seems everyone today is in a hurry and we are all tempted by the constant allure of our smartphones and gadgets. It is easy to be distracted while driving, being a pedestrian, or riding a bike around town.

Rain or Shine- Summer Safety Fair Scheduled for June 27

***Update as of 6/26/15, 1:30pm- We are still planning to hold our Summer Safety Fair despite rain predictions. We will be indoors and will continue outdoor kids activities when possible.***

Safety, health and community organizations will be here to share resources, health and safety tips to help get kids and families get summer started safely. Norton Children’s Hospital will be sponsoring a bike rodeo. There will be games and children’s activities.
